Cricket is among the most loved and played sport in India. India is hosting the ICC World Twenty20 Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the official cricket body in India. Having 29 associations affiliated under it which includestates of India, Railways, Sports authorities and universities the BCCI is a big and complex cricket structure. BCCI is a full member or ICC - International Cricket Council. There are over 25 stadiums in India among which the famous are Ferozhah Kotla - Delhi, Eden Gardens - Kolkata, Wankhede Stadium - Mumbai and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium - Dharmashala.

The most famous of all sports clubs - the Marylebone Cricket Club - was founded in 1787, a fact gathered from a poster for a cricket match in 1837 announcing the Club's golden jubilee. If there was any written evidence of its official launch in 1787, it was destroyed by a fire at Lord's in 1825.
